Turns out I love it and use it on 90% of my field work. So many sites that it needed new bits. So I ordered a new bucket while the original one is being sent back for refurbishing. This is a great company.

GBFirst Rate Tools for Soil Scientists I have used AMS soil sampling equipment for over 20 years in various capacities. My AMS probes (I prefer 2" or 3" Dutch augers on a 5 ft carbon steel extension, driven by a ratcheting crossbar) have always delivered, especially in dry and/or stony soils where simple push probes fail to even penetrate. The 5 ft extension allows me to sample the full root zone of most crops and lets me quickly explore multiple soil profiles without the need to dig pits. Lastly, I have never had a probe break on me.
