RUAbout Pandanese I travel a lot and have never had problems in Europe with English. This winter I want to try China and South East Asia and I need to know at least the fundamentals. What I liked in Pandanese is mostly learning method: 1. The correct ordering - first radicals, second characters, then vocabulary. So I can understand how the vocabulary is built up. 2. Space Repetition. I am forced to review items regularly and at the right pace. 3. Story mnemonic. I remember items and keep them in mind. What I really miss is the mobile app. Perhaps, this for a reason, but I would definitely try it.

GBThis is a very fast and effective way… This is a very fast and effective way to learn basic characters. The review process is what makes it so effective as well as the mnemonic selection of characters.

AUEngaging and effective learning method Pandanese's teaching methodology is truly engaging and has enabled me to consistently learn and review Chinese characters. The sequence of radicals and characters is designed so that you gradually learn harder and harder concepts, by building upon and reinforcing simpler ones. The learning experience isn't faultless though.Tthe spaced repetition system is good in principle, but it becomes a bit unfeasible as levels increase. It is common to find cards with faults, which hampers my learning. Nevertheless, I greatly enjoy learning Chinese with Pandanese and hope that the developers can keep on improving it.

GBPretty good with lots of potential I have been using Pandanese for 9 days now and so far I really enjoy the program. It’s the closest thing to a Chinese version of WaniKani although it is definitely at an earlier stage of development. I like the use of colors to designate the vocab, radicals, and characters as well as the spacing and ease to just use numbers for the tones instead of trying to fumble with accent marks. Some suggestions that I would think would make it better are: -Possibly color coding (preferably) OR creating mnemonics for the tones since they are a super important part of the language and does need to be memorized. -The quality of the pronunciation voice does the job but can definitely be improved. -Some of the mnemonics don’t make the most sense and some of them don’t even have the word included in some way. Maybe create a 5-10 word title mnemonic that’s easy to stick and then have a few sentences to aid/supplement that main sentence. -Having a separate traditional Characters version would be cool but I would focus on getting the simplified version down before beginning that. Overall I liked it so far and do plan on continuing to use and upgrade, hopefully see it improve and grow as I work though it.
