Forest Trail is an exceptional school Forest Trail is an exceptional school. The curriculum is well thought out, well organized and ample material is provided for the topics. I found the teachers to be easily accessible and knowledgeable in their respective fields. Overall, it was a great experience, one I enjoyed much more than public school. I enjoyed it more because I was able to work at my own pace and got to be responsible for planning my own days.

FTA isn't worth the money. I think most of these reviews were written by staff or owner. This is a self pace school, which is nice depending on what you're looking for. My son was assigned a teacher, but there's no contact with her or anything. I'm the teacher. They had an issue where the systems were down and my son wasn't able to do any work for two days, the school failed to notify me. When I called to inquire about what was going on, I was met with attitude and disrespect by Ken, the admissions associate. Ken explained he was upset about the system issues as well and that's why he was yelling at me, the consumer. He apologized for his tone, but continued to address me the same disrespectful way. I still don't understand why he had the right to be mad, when I was the one being cheated out of time and money. I reported him and haven't heard anything back yet. My son has already been accepted into another school next year and I can't wait to be done with FTA. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! There are better options for online education than FTA.

Flexibility of Self-Paced Courses We chose Forest Trail Academy for our daughters first year of online school due to the flexibility of the self-paced classes. Her preprofessional ballet did not allow her to attend live online classes that are required by many programs. Knowing that Forest Trail holds many accreditations (including NCAA) was also a tipping point for us. Like any first year of something new, we had our ups and downs, but in the end, we are 100% happy with our choice to enroll at Forest Trail Academy.

If you have an independent high…home schooled athlete If you have an independent high schooler, our experience was reasonably well. Teachers responded to parents questions, as did front office, or technical support. Some of the curriculum course work seems not to be connected to subject, ie: writing an essays for math that do no correlate to course work. Some of the work seems redundant. Having said that, I did a lot of research before I signed up and I knew going into this that out of so many other online HS, this seemed to be a good choice for our budget. We did one semester and will continue with this program as it does fit for a homeschooled athlete.

Held our grandson's credits "hostage"… Held our grandson's credits "hostage" when we chose to take him out after 8 months for financial reasons. He never got the credits and it put him farther behind in school. BEWARE! As far as their competence as an educational institute, they seemed fine.
