Writing between Windows and Obsidian with Inspire Writer I was looking for a very simple Markdown writer app as a fiction writer. I have recently taken up the Obsidian notetaking app, and enjoyed learning Markdown with that. I wanted a simple but speedy writing app to take over the complexity of Scrivener. I can write in Obsidian but there are still many issues - tables in particularly are difficult in Obsidian's markdown format. After trialling Inspire Writer for 7 days free trial I was overjoyed to find that I could simply map to my Obsidian notes folder on my PC, and writing in both has real time saves. Write a new note in Inspire Writer, and it appears immediately in Obsidian. Inspire Writer adds some additional benefits - tables and footnotes are really easy with a popup box to input into. Much easier than even Obsidian's Advanced Tables plugin. Inspire lets me tag files (called sheets) with inhouse tags also (not affecting my metadata tags inside of Obsidian) which I use for other purposes. Inspire publishes to Medium and Wordpress also, a huge bonus for blog posts. The only downside to Inspire is its image view and insert functionality. Inspire only deals with external images (hosted on the web, so only URLs). Obsidian holds images inside the Obsidian folders for copy/pasted/dragged images. Inside of Inspire the same note.md file only shows the Obsidian URL for this internal image, and does not show the image. The ease of doing markdown tables and writing quickly when drafting made me take the purchase option for Inspire Writer.

And yet, it offers an elaborate and resourceful structure to cater from that simple short text to the production of an entire book. If you are reading this comment, I imagine you like or spend a good deal of your time writing. For your work, to do a post, for studies or simply because you like to write for pure pleasure, as a form of expression. If that's your case, you're sure to love Inspire! Inspire uses Markdown as a formatting language which allows you to fit your text into several different file types (HTML, PDF, DOCX, Rich Text, etc.) so that text is adjusted according to the need of the file , no broken formatting, empty spaces, strange fonts, etc. And it also allows automatic backup and cloud synchronization across multiple cloud services (dropbox, google driver, box ...). Letting you have the security that your texts and projects will always be available and safe. In addition to all these details, they facilitate and help in their task of producing texts. Inspire looks nice, intuitive and easy to use.

I was using Ulysses on Mac, and was looking for an equivalent on Windows. It had to : - work with plain text files (no custom database or file format) - support Markdown language - be able to share files with Ulysses with no conflict (through Google drive or Dropbox) That's exactly what Inspire does ! Now, I'm writing on Windows with Inspire with as much pleasure and focus as with Ulysses on Mac. I'm writing diary entries, novels, and blog posts. Inspire allows me to keep all my writings in one place and to organize them neatly through simple forlder structure. I do appreciate the feature allowing to post directly to Wordpress. I can work on a draft from anywhere, including when I'm offline (which helps stay focused), and then post it to wordpress once I'm ready. Is it perfect ? No, but the only (small) issue I can think of is the support of foreign characters. I'm usually writing in french, and I noticed that in some screens (not in the main editor window), accented characters are not displayed properly in the current version. But that's really a meaningless issue compare to the overall quality of Inspire :)

Inspire Writer - elegance in action I used Inspire Writer for the duration of the trial. My work moves between Mac and PC. Ulysses is my preferred writing app on Mac and up until now I have not found an equivalent app for PC. But, thankfully, Inspire Writer is the perfect answer. There is a seamless transition between my Mac and my PC with my writing projects. Inspire Writer is the gorgeously elegant, distraction free writing tool for me. I cannot recommend it highly enough. How I became an Inspire(d) Writer Well, I am not a writer... So what to do with Inspire writer might you ask? I stumbled over the program via GiveAwayOfTheDay, it got good reviews, so I had a look. And, I am impressed with the ease of use, quick workflow and simpleness to do some markup with it. We are in the process of writing a blog, so plenty of texts to create, this program is going to help us a lot. The only thing that I am missing is support for Joomla, the program that we use for our blog, but we will copy/paste around it until there is a better solution on hand.
