About Keepkey

KeepKey is a bitcoin hardware wallet. When you entrust KeepKey with your money, each and every bitcoin transaction you make must be reviewed and approved via it’s OLED display and confirmation button. It now becomes nearly impossible for virtual attackers like malware or viruses to steal your valuable bitcoins.

A bit confusing for a novice but I like the idea... I have yet to use my Keepkey, and maybe it's just my ignorance on crypto-currencies in general, but sort of feel like I'm shooting in the dark here. l'm sure the information to get started is somewhere, but it doesn't just reach out and slap you, obviously I need to do more digging. But the idea of having your "money" instead of letting someone else hold it is what I like.

Unacceptable I run into the problem. When I had to send some coins worth of $850 to other wallet. Nightmare came at the second I pressed send. Together with my $850 Keepkey made a second address worth over $5000 from my wallet and sent both wallet addresses to blockchain site. No idea why but $850 reach it's destination and second stuck at blockchain as unspent money. There is no way to retrieve this money back. So I lost over $5000. Keepkey support was not very helpfull and explained that money should be return back to the wallet. On my question how long it will take I never got an answer. I don't understand in a first place why my money was taken out from my wallet without my authorization and I have no idea if it ever will be back to my wallet. Will wait for return of money and will return this wallet back to the store. There is no point to have unpredictable device which can send unknown amount of money to nowhere. I need something that I will relly on. $5000 maybe for someone nothing but it is lots of money for me especially when I really on it. I would not recommend this divice to nobody. Now I am just sitting and waiting if by some magic it will appear in this useless device which brought to me so many problems. Thank you.

I bought a new Keepkey wallet in the… I bought a new Keepkey wallet in the latter part of 2017 and it worked satisfactorily till the end of January 2018. I kept more than 2 BTC in it and transferred back to my online wallet without problem leaving a small amount of BTC. I also kept 4 ETH in my Keepkey and at the end of January I sent additional 10 ETH to it, but it failed to record it in my account balance. I contacted the Helpdesk and they gave me instructions to rectify it. In the process my Keepkey was not even showing my already received 4 ETH or the residual 0.067 BTC. A contacted them a few dozen times without getting my money back. So I bought another new Keepkey and hoped to recover the funds using the recovery words I had from the first one. It failed too! I contacted the help desk several times without any positive result. By this time more than 6 months have passed and the ETH value dropped more than 50%. I could not access my 14 ETH worth about $20000 to sell it in time to realize my profit. SInce Keepkey device and the help desk would not recover my funds, as a last resort I used my original recovery words in a third party wallet and to my surprise it recovered all my money - a consolation but when I sold I lost my profit, but at least I got my capital back. I would not advice anybody to keep a significant amount in these hardware wallets. Hardware wallets in my opinion have the risks of: hardware malfunction, firmware dysfunction, app failure or unsatisfactory interactions among them. In summary I would not trust my money again with any hardware wallet - after all they are man-made and unreliable. Thiru

Really? A great product? All those saying great product, try sending some ERC 20 coins to it. KK said that they support ERC 20. They don't support ALL ERC 20 coins (but don't tell you this.) Furthermore, they dont have an idea when they will. That means any coins you send will not be visible until KK extract the digit and do what they have promised. So this is not a crypto wallet. This is a wallet to store SOME coins. It is so sad because this is a good, well designed product - apart from the fact that the coins stored is a selective list.
