scammers central every single reply i have had whilst selling a laptop on gumtree ,has been a pathetic scammer ,i report them.....nothing is done EVER!!!!gumtree is as useless as ever,you can't block the scammers,i have never ever sold anything on gumtree ,the only advantage is gumtree attracts the dumbest scammers around,only reason i haven't closed my account is im old an i get bored so playing mind games with scammers pass my idle time,doesn't present much of a challenge though as these so called scammers use the exact same message every single time,i would give gumtree minus stars but i can't if i could it would be 10- stars

Sellng to scammers and other bad people Like others, I would give zero stars to Gumtree if I could. I'm paying for an expensive and ineffective ad that is a magnet to trolls and scammers. Gumtree posts lots platitudes about making it a safe site but no real protections are installed and it relies upon its users to police its site for the bad people. This is cheap and ineffective policy. How about Gumtree developing some smart tracking software that can identify these parasites and follow up with some criminal prosecutions. It cannot be too difficult. In the meantime, until it has better security and safety for users it will deteriorate into a trashy and untrusted site.

Wasted hours trying to list an item and… Wasted hours trying to list an item and ad never appeared. Tried over several weeks to no avail. Now I've read other reviews re scammers etc. I'm glad I didn't pursue it further!

Don't pay to advertise your vehicle Paid for Gumtree recommended advertising package to sell our vehicle, what a rip-off. Ran an unpaid ad at the same time with similar results. Gumtree is the home of scammers wanting e-mails address to acces your computer at a rate of 10 to 1 of genuine inquiries. Reporting scammers to Gumtree does nothing and they give members no control to block these scammers. Gumtree is just getting too greedy and are a fifth rate site to Facbook MarketPlace. Unfortunately these are the only two effective selling sites on the net but Gumtree is going the way of the Dodo.
