I searched in the designated areas I wanted to reside, applied to multiple properties, had a few walk throughs, filled out an application and got a room. The ones who were renting rooms also reached out to me but they were not in my search area so I kindly declined. If you are looking for a FREE painless experience use Roomies! Best experience ever looking for a place to call home!

Great website, users need more incentive to respond. The website itself is very well designed. Everything makes sense where it's supposed to be, having the options to purchase background checks and verifying IDs to help bring comfort to those renting out rooms is also fantastic. Something they could do better Is when searching for a room it would be nice to have an option to search as A city and then apply a radius around. In some areas you have to look up each small town to find something as opposed to searching one and seeing everything nearby. Another thing that's a gripe but it's nothing with the website itself, it's the users. They don't seem to have much motivation to respond. I could have sent 50 plus messages and I would be lucky to get five back but that's how the game goes.

Roomies was a fantastic service to use… Roomies was a fantastic service to use when I was looking for a room in a sharehouse. It was free to use, I entered my preferences (rent price, location, etc.) and a few details about myself. Within a couple days I had a message from an individual looking to fill a room in her place, turned out we were in the same uni program, and have a lot in common (because she was also choosing me based on a detailed profile). Roomies was the best platform to be able to have these initial interactions! I love it.

Better luck with paying sites You need a place to leave reviews besides facebook. Not only to warn people of potential crappy landlords and/or tenants but to also rate the good ones. Not everyone has Facebook. Found my new place on a completely different site and hoping to never use Roomies again.
