GBI decided to try this insurance I decided to try this insurance, since the local shelter gives one month free when you adopt from them... well, it was a huge mistake! About 2 months after we adopted our sweet dog, her vet found and recommended the removal/biopsy of three mammary tumors. After I submitted all vet paperwork and shelter documents, and the vet hospital submitted to them twice, Petfirst just kept emailing me that the claim was denied for lack of documentation. When I called them, they said to resubmit, then one person said they'd check directly with our vet... still received denied emails. I've cancelled my policy, because they make it so difficult to get service. I believe that's part of their scam, so they mostly take money in and deny mist claims. Insurance shoppers be very aware of thurs place!

GBAWFUL I couldn't give 0 stars and still post a review but PetFirst has been absolutely horrific about paying a claim. I have sent documents repeatedly (I have an email showing at least one that they claim they never got.). I have called several times. I have asked for supervisors. Both of my vets have called several times each only to be told each time they had never called before. Find a better company. I'm not sure you could do worse.

GBHasn't Really Paid Off... We were unaware of the 90 day requirement and submitted our puppy's claims when he was finished with his immunizations all at once. Of course, we weren't reimbursed for any of it. What's worse- we DID submit a claim within the 90 day time-frame later and the company denied it, claiming that they didn't "receive it" until the 91st day. We've not been reimbursed for anything.

GBDon't waste your money! I'm not happy with their lack of coverage. My recently rescued cats both came down with tapeworms and then Giardia. Both claims were denied!!! Apparently they consider those preventable conditions, even though they'd been dewormed by the rescue. Since when is Giardia preventable? $800 in vet bills and medicine and they approved only $168 for ear infection. Don't waste your money!

GBCanceled my policy with PetFirst… I just canceled my policy with PetFirst (MetLife). After one year of coverage they automatically increased my monthly rate by nearly 40%! That's an insane increase, and that's with no covered claims! I asked the customer service person if that policy was reflected in my contract and she said, "no, we just automatically increase the price every year at renewal because your dog is older." What? So in essence after the first year they can charge you whatever they want every year and we as customers have no say. I said bye. These are questionable practices at best and I'm hoping I can find another pet insurance company who will conduct themselves in a more reputable and honest way. Buyer beware.
