About FareCompare

COVID-19 FAQ We know many FareCompare users had their travel plans impacted by COVID-19. We hope first and foremost that you remain safe during this difficult time. Here are answers to some common questions: Why is FareCompare still promoting travel offers and tracking price changes? Travel restrictions vary in multiple countries and we are adjusting the departure dates for flights in our emails to match these restrictions. Of course we want you to follow the restrictions set up by your health and government officials. How can you cancel a flight or move the departure? You will need to contact the airline that you booked your ticket with (FareCompare does not handle transactions). Look for an email that has a confirmation number. This should also have the airline's contact information. Will airlines charge you if you change your departure? How do you know if you can fly to a certain destination? Either contact the airline if you know which airline you want to use, or visit the government site for your destination. What can you do while waiting for travel restrictions to end? THIS SITE IS A SCAM THIS SITE IS A SCAM Bought plane tickets from Oakland to Austin on 3/30/23 for $316. Received a confirmation email. Made other arrangements based on my confirmed plane tickets. Fare compare called on 4/1/23 and told me the tickets I bought were not available at the price I paid and asked me to pay $895 instead. When I declined they canceled my tickets. The snarky supervisor asked me if I had ever flown on an airplane before and informed me a "smart traveler " would understand how their site does business. UNBELIEVABLE! As of 10:45pm PDT on 4/1/23 the same tickets I tried to buy are still available on their site for the same price I tried to pay... hmmmmm

Email alert algorithm broken Something is off. Let's say you've identified some flights and saved them for tracking. Let's say that at the time you saved a flight, it was $225. So with that, I'll get an email notification that "Your trip's price has dropped". When I open it, it might say something like $165 being the new price. Yet when I click on the "new price", it takes me to fare compare where I see the price is significantly higher ($200). To me, the email is useless if it isn't what it says it is. This happens time and time again with me literally checking the email right away.

Great Fares but Be Really Quick! This website is great and I really like the feature to set it to places I want to go and let it do all the fare comparing and watching! My only complaint is that you have to be REALLY quick because these fares are gone in a flash. So unfortunately many times if I am only signing in at night to check emails - they are already unavailable, having sold out.
