About HPP Cares

HPP CARES CDE is a California nonprofit HUD Approved consumer credit, debt, and housing counseling agency. Our organization understands the challenges the average consumer faces when it comes to being overextended with financial constraints such as debt. Knowing this, we are committed to educating consumers with an emphasis on financial literacy. Our certified HUD Approved housing counselors provide personal assistance through budget counseling, housing counseling, and debt management strategies to lower interest rates and monthly payments. We can address the issues at hand by improving access to credit for low-to-moderate income and historically underserved communities (BIPOC) households through qualified programs that identify and support them. These include but are not limited to affordable housing, homeownership, small business technical assistance, financial literacy, and economic development, ultimately establishing the framework needed for sustaining communities, neighborhoods, and households. It is unfortunate that in 2022 essential skills regarding the management of household finances are lacking in K-12 education. A lack of financial literacy leads many consumers to learn these lessons the hard way, putting them in difficult positions that can be tough to recover from. To further address existing issues, our agency implements the latest multilingual technology bridging the divide to ensure consumers from any background have access to the resources and knowledge they need to make sound decisions and better their financial situations.

Grant Funding and processing. I would like to take a moment to point out the efforts made by Genesis Rivera. She has been extremely helpful and always available to answer any questions without hesitation. Funding request have been much easier and moving our project forward seamlessly. Brittany, my account manager is also an outstanding professional, smart and can definitely be counted on! Thank you Omar! Omar is extremely helpful, patient and kind. Each time I speak with him, he does more than just answer my questions, he gives me additional information that helps me understand this whole escrow/invoicing/building process. Today, he also offered some encouraging words, knowing that construction can be stressful but will eventually be rewarding. He's done all of this, even though he's not my account manager. Thank you, the HPP Cares Team! Miss Katherine Peoples is excellent and knowledgeable. Our account manager changed hands thrice since December 2022, and we now have Denys Rivera. He is always prompt and responsive when we have any questions. He was very attentive, helpful, and patient with us and answered all of our questions that arose throughout the process. We are so grateful to him and to HPP Cares! Genesis Rivera has been very supportive and pushed paperwork through with excellent efficiency.

ADU not possible without HPP Cares HPP Cares has been an amazing partner in helping me fund and build my ADU. The cost of building an ADU is so high that I wouldn't have been able to build one with the grant administered by HPP Cares. Denys and Katherine were SO helpful in answering and troubleshooting all my issues and concerns. I highly recommend HPP Cares and hope the state of CA continues to make funding available to solve our housing shortage.
