vonage is GARBAGE I got this VOIP service because they were supposed to have the best customer service. I got my equipment and there was an issue with it having to be hardwired and not having wifi so I called customer service. They couldn't help me with the issue so I asked to be transferred to cancel my account. They then proceeded to hang up on me 4 times. They finally got my account canceled but they were either purposely disconnecting me or vonage drops a whole lot of calls.

Since ATT disconnected my traditional… Since ATT disconnected my traditional landline without my authorization and entered me into the VOIP phase which is suppose to be the new era for the city of Detroit, I have been disgusted in the performance, and the reliability, and the comfort I should have with feeling safe that my phone has a dial tone no matter what the weather looks like. Once I found out ATT had made the switch without my knowledge I hit the roof , made several complaints and they never came back out to replace my traditional line. VOIP phone in my opinion are NOT safe in anyone's home, if your power source is gone you have no way of reaching out for help. I have been for the last 2 years been writing to the Attorney General, BBB, our State Rep., to please let us take a vote on the Traditional landline vs VOIP and to not just let the switch take place. VOIP is not safe or reliable for our seniors, our children, for me, for NO ONE. You never know when you're gonna pick your phone up or it's just not ringing because it doesn't have a connection ?

After almost 2 decades I called to… After almost 2 decades I called to cancel my service, on 12/22/2022. My annual payment was made the first week of December, automatically. After talking to the rep in India, I was told my refund would be credited back to my credit card in 5-7 business days. I never received it. Called yesterday, 01/04/2023 and was told that she’ll process the refund and it will take 5-7 business days. I will now contact the credit card company and dispute the charge. I also requested a transfer to customer service in the US, and she said there wasn’t one. Will be filing a formal complaint with the FCC, also.

Updated from Two Stars Previous Review Below: The reason that I thought the International Line had not been cancelled was because of the 43% tax (!) on a single line, including a tax for Intellectual Property! What IP is involved in making a phone call, curious minds would like to know. Because of this ludicrous tax, I would give Vonage three stars. I cannot think of a single item I've ever had nearly a 50% tax on the purchase. Upped to Four Stars due to today's positive experience with Customer Service Agent Suresh who suggested a more practical plan for me. ***** I have two Vonage #s, a domestic one and an international one. A month or so go, after quite a big rigamorole, I finally managed to contact someone in an Indian (?) call center, who asked me some relevant questions and apparently went through some procedures on his end. He assured me that the international line had been cancelled. This month, I got my credit card for the same amount, and checked my Vonage account, and the Internation line was still there. I will try to retrace my steps and see if I have better luck this time.
