AVOID AVOID Just go to the car companies direct to save yourself the tripwires and end up without a vehicle and stranded in a foreign country. My partner and I was away on a work trip in LA. We found Wisecars via Kayak, purchased a rental car at a stated price of around $500. Upon turning up to fox car rental at LAX we’re told we needed to pay for additional insurance to the value of around $1300 total in order to drive in California. Such an increase was a surprise possibly avoided if we went direct to a rental company. Next was having the ability to pay this additional amount. I had on my person cash and my debit card. These were not accepted as I needed a credit card. So that was that. I was not refunded the money, even when the gentleman behind the desk at Fox advised me to contact my bank and dispute the payment. In the end my partner had to get a new policy with her credit card via fox, as we were stranded. I may be ignorant to renting vehicles as I do not do this very often. But I feel like Wisecars is a middle man you can do without. I ran into additional fee’s and T&Cs that took my money without ultimately receiving what I paid for. My advice is to avoid this, go direct and do not fall for the stated cheap price they temp you in with.

Marcus was very thorough and helpful Marcus helped me out tremendously when we had to transfer our booking to another rental car company that Wise cars works with. He went through every detail to make sure the process was seamless.

Avoid at all costs Avoid We booked a 7seater via WiseCars to be picked up from a hotel in Puerto Morelos, Mexico and the booking was an Avis Car. On arrival at the hotel to pick up, we were told that Avis only delivers cars to hotel guests. I could still have a car as a non hotel guest but at more than double the booked price. WiseCars ultimately said they will discuss with their supplier, returned the £21 fee that they had taken upfront and left me to sort my own car hire out - left me and my family in a mess. We could not get a car hire last minute and those last few days of our holiday turned into hell and expensive due to taxi rates in that part of Mexico are outrageous. Thank you WiseCars!

They booked the car and did everything… They booked the car and did everything correct. The car company (not wisecars) overbooked and ran out of cars (happened to other people there as well who used the car company website). We left and made other arrangements while others were there for a long time even before we go there. Paul from wisecars refunded the money as soon as he found out what happened. Will use them again.
