GBPulling Teeth Without the Fun I adopted my Dogs at the local humane society and they were pushing MetLife Pet insurance with their welcome packet. I knew insurance was a good idea so I got a decent plan and thought I was good. Wrong, filing anything and trying to get a correct "Explanation of Benefits" where they detail how they "honor" your vet charges is like pulling teeth. Had a scare on the first week where one dog decided to eat a leather toy at night and had an ER trip and the filing was awful. I gave the entire adoption history with the vet notes and they denied the claim because I was missing 6 years of medical history on a dog I adopted 2 weeks ago. Not to mention the company is setup so you cant actually contact anyone on the claims team who could simply correct the the fumbled information, you have to contact a dedicated customer service rep. who can email the claims team for you and "contact" you in a week when they hear back or you have to fill out an appeal form that has your vets signature and stamp on it (yes a stamp.) Sure, one time would be bad but its like the claims team is either toddlers or is in India because they cant report the right vet visit dates or read the receipts that say what the vet has or has not prescribed. I think they have fallen to a new level of dysfunction and I'm joining a new company at the end of my plan. PET OWNERS BEWARE 2024.

GBDon't buy Metlife pet insurance … Until 6 months ago I was happy with Metlife but now I am receiving the same runaround as everyone else. I am repeatedly told to resubmit the same documents, the phone staff say that they have everything and that they are "making a note" for the claim reviewers, then 3 days later another 4 am email telling me to submit paperwork. Their latest game is requiring proof of previous insurance, even for brand new conditions and illnesses. If a health insurance company for people tried this they would be fine and shut down. The middle of the night emails are making me think that claims processing has been outsourced to overseas contractors. I would avoid Metlife at all costs!

GBMetLife pet insurance - horrible MetLife pet insurance sucks. I had NAtionwide and was lured into Metlife by lower premiums. However, they are very very slow to process claims and to pay. They so made some unfair assessments, and despite a letter from my vet, explaining Metlife’s misunderstanding, they denied the claim. I never had an issue with NAtionwide ever.. After this review posted, MetLife asked that I email them to discuss further. I have wasted 2+ hours already on trying to communicate these issues, not to mention my vet’s time responding (they were appalled by MetLife’s decision). MetLife’s response is an attempt to make their company look helpful but would amount to nothing. Steer clear.

GBI've had MetLife for a year and a half & I'm appalled by the bad reviews, reminds me of paid hacks posting negative reviews on Yelp I've had MetLife for a year and a half. Every claim has been paid, the longest I've had to wait was 2 weeks. They pay for all parasite % heartworm preventatives, with wellness they pay 100% of vet visits and they pay what the vet charges, not some silly limit like $150 for a spay/neuter that you see with some companies. I'm not sure why all the negative reviews but I can't believe they have gotten that many complaints, they have been great!

GBI submitted two related claims that keep getting put on hold... I submitted two claims: the first for blood test, the second a week later for the procedure. All I get is delay tactics...the want the medical records, which the vet and I both sent...the records were all encompassing for both related procedures. I was told via email all was received and now the first claim is back on hold "for medical records". My frustration level is hitting the roof.
