Quick and Accurate Service The customer service rep was very helpful and thorough. The process was also pretty quick, along with getting help on a Sunday. Which is awesome.

I gave up on the automatic (AI?) system… I gave up on the automatic (AI?) system after several attempts and used the virtual call system. That works. I had not been told until after several attempts that you must not scan with the 1200 dpi setting because the file size is too large. 600 dpi works fine. I had to wait 30 minutes to get it. Not great. But if you try to call the IRS you will wait for hours. Don't bother.

All good after a rough start Update: Once a tech contacted me (it took a few days; busy tax time) my account issues were straightened out easily. The main problem? I had set up an account a year ago which I never used and forgot about; then set up another account which can’t be done and somehow I managed to get myself locked out of my original account. Had it not been for the AT&T breach of my SSN I would not have been so concerned. All good now. It would have helped if there had been a more prominent warning about duplicate accounts, I think. Original post: A nightmare. I am trying to access my IRS account (the old system worked perfectly). In the course of setting up an id.me account, I discovered that an email address I was using had been compromised. So, I "removed" that account and set up a new account. BIG MISTAKE. I now cannot access either account, cannot merge the accounts and cannot get an answer on how to fix this problem. I do not recall there being a warning not to do this. So, to find out if my estimated tax payment was received by the IRS I have to go to an IRS office and schedule an appointment. No answer from customer service which is only accessed through a virtual agent named Roy. Effectively, I am now locked out of my IRS account except for in-person visits to the closest office.

There are people out there that can be trusted. The wait time was short and to the point. The person whom I spoke was very polite, she spoke clearly, and very professionally.
