We evaluated 6 different self directed… We evaluated 6 different self directed Ira companies for doing our own real estate investment. We picked alto on price (not the least expensive but because they don’t charge based on investment size the pricing was fair), online capability, live phone support if needed (it wasn’t), web experience, and simplicity of fees. It took us about 10 minutes to setup our accounts, and funding was easier. Setup of an investment vehicle requires a lot of approvals from us, the real estate folks and alto, but all Automatted and only took a few days. Very nice support for our first time.

Setting up and funding my new Alto account was very easy and straightforward. The overall experience of setting up and funding my new Alto account was very easy and straightforward. After waiting the necessary period for the funds to be transferred over from my external account, I was "up and trading" within a relatively short period of time. The entire process proved to be painless with very clear communication provided along the way. Great service!

Riskier than crypto usually is One year ago I wrote about how Alto Crypto IRA is riskier than investing in crypto on other platforms because of a risk that is unique to their platform: If Coinbase delists a crypto and users do not sell that crypto before it is delisted, those assets will be stranded, unable to be sold or transferred. Users usually just have a few days between when Coinbase announces a delisting and when it happens, so users don't have much time to act. One year ago Also said they were working on a solution to this problem, but they still have not announced anything or updated their website to make users aware of this risk. For future delistings, there are simple solutions like creating an option for users to automatically sell affected assets when a delisting is announced, but Alto still does not seem interested in solving this problem or making users aware of it. Therefore, be careful when putting money into Alto.

Horrible firm to work with Horrible firm to work with; AVOID. I'm on my third week trying to get my money out of this institution. Customer support is non-existent, fees are HIGH and performance is terrible compared to ANY institution that does the same thing.

A live person answered… It was nice that a live person answered my call. And he was knowledgeable and was able to assist me in completing the transaction I was experiencing a problem with. No phone tree hell to navigate first!
