GBQuality Control Not as Good as My First Coop from this Company I have had an original Round Top coop since 2017 and it has been great. It was easy to assemble, and the parts fit together nicely. Unfortunately , the Starter Chicken Coop Model 2 that this review addresses is not the value for the money I hoped it would be. The quality of the wood and hardware are very good. They are much better than the foreign coops. However, the assembly was difficult because the panels and doors didn’t fit together well. After careful squaring and leveling panel edges and doors had to be sanded down to open and close properly. Some of the joints held together by staples had separated during shipment. Right now the design doesn’t fit my 4, 7 week old chicks. I purchased ‘booster’ perches until the chicks are big enough to safely access on the coop perch. It appears that a ladder or ramp is needed to reach the perch and egg box. I also had some trouble maneuvering the automatic waterer in place, and will probably need help removing it for cleaning. I do like the automatic feeder, and that the entire front panel is removable for cleaning. Based on my experience, the main area of improvement for the company would be quality control.

GBWell-engineered Well-engineered, High Quality, and Durable We ordered our first coop three years ago, which has aged so well and is so proficient in design, that when we needed a new coop for guinea keets, we knew where we would order from!

GBHighly Recommend Neither my husband nor I have any building skills. I would give the directions on the Model 2 XL a 98 out of 100, and their customer service a 100. I would suggest including the part numbers with the descriptions. This was not the case in later steps. I would also ensure that pre-drilled holes were in all the places the directions indicated. A minor issue, but helpful. I did not expect a call back on a Saturday with my one question, but minutes after leaving a voice mail, Kevin called back and provided clarification. He was terrific! He also followed up with us a few days later to ensure we were able to complete the assembly. We are hoping this is the last coop we will have to purchase, as winters in New England can be harsh. First impressions on this company are quite impressive. I would buy again.

GBYour chicken coop is well made and… Your chicken coop is well made and heavy enough to last for years. It was easy to put together. The only thing I had to do was replace the latches on the egg door and the other large upper door with lockable latches like you have on the extended run. We have a raccoon problem and unfortunately they are very adept at opening latches. The chickens see to be happy as well. They never missed a laying day with the transfer to the new coop!
