Solid idea! Like others I’m surprised about all the negative comments. I have sold a car a couple of weeks ago and have to say the whole process was really good. I got more than the typical car max quotation and I feel like the buyer also got a good deal. Win win! Their onboarding process takes some time, but if you’re not in any rush this is a great place to sell a car! Customer service was always there for both me and the buyer!

Cars & Bids (C&B) is an auction site Cars & Bids (C&B) is an auction site. I purchased a vehicle at auction and was charged a commission of 4.5% on Nov6. On Nov 11 i traveled 500 miles to San Diego to inspect the vehicle. The seller refused to allow me to drive the vehicle. Instead the seller took me for a drive in the vehicle. The seller represented that the vehicle had just been serviced and was in perfect condition. I discovered otherwise. Vehicle dashboard lights were flickering and seat massage functions did not work in the Mercedes S560. The vehicle may have had other issues but without driving i could not determine that. The seller's comment was "well you are not a real buyer". I walked away from the deal and C&B refused to refund the $2925.00 they charged to my credit card. How can an auction company keep a commission for a transaction that did not go thru? If a seller misrepresented what was being sold and is dishonest i am not going to purchase the vehicle.

My advice, sell on you own. Don’t leave it to the “experts” when it comes to scheduling the auction. My advice would be not to have your auction run during a holiday weekend, and request an end time for the auction after 5 pm, when ordinary working people can actually participate. Be aware that they won’t allow you to contact an interested party that missed the closing moments of the auction, even if your reserve isn’t met.

They were better than expected from the pictures. Great site that is primarily "interesting cars" that auto enthusiasts might be interested in.

Bad service Man, CarsandBids is such a bad service for selling your car. They demand hundreds of photos, are always complaining, and the reserve price often changes, usually for the worse. For example, CarMax offered $4k above the reserve price offered by CarsandBids. I would not recommend them
