Fine product The forge worked very well, and will work better as I tweak it for my needs. It took longer to heat up than I expected, until I readjusted the flame as per instructions in the online video. Then it heated beautifully, and I heat treated two blades prior to tempering, and annealed two other files to become billets for future knives. Service was excellent. My packaging was solid. My product was solid. Since I am almost 75 years old, I probably will not be buying another forge, but if I do, it will be another one from Mathewson. Frank L

Great customer service Great customer service! I recommend when purchasing through their PayPal payment system you must set up a PayPal account. I tried the second option of just using a debit or credit card option and PayPal screwed it up by not submitting my purchase or charging my card even though it prompted at thanks for your purchase screen. Which left me and Matthewson Metals in the dark about my purchase! I bought the metalsmith forge and it’s very well built and it works great!

Atrocious shipping Hopefully the forge lives up to the hype when it arrives, atrocious shipping. I placed an order on Feb 6, according to the shipping policy on their website it should have shipped that Friday. A label was not created until the 13th, however the product still did not ship until the 20th, I was told due to inclimate weather. Travking now tells me to expect it on tbe 27th. A ridiculous amount of time in this day and age. This company did not adhere to their shipping policy.

I live near this shop (even took a… I live near this shop (even took a smithing class here), so I got to see the forge before I purchased it. Works great, I can get three sessions of about 4 hours each on a 4.5 lb tank of propane. Got “upsold” to the MetalSmith forge (was going to get the Knifesmith), glad I spent the extra money. One thing to be aware of, the Metalsmith needs to be heated up the first time to make sure the cement is fully cured and then allowed to cool prior to first time use. This is an important, yet frustrating step meaning your new toy will take an extra couple of hours to be really useable.

Saying thank you I have had my Knifesmith forge for some years now. I want to say thank for the great product that has not only allowed me to turn out some nice knifes but also provide hours of fun and enjoyment doing it with my my kids, grandkids and other friends.
