Good experience, but way higher then FMV I've always had good experiences with Winebid with bidding and shipping. For lower priced wines under $300, you will still pay a premium through Winebid. But for higher priced collector wines, sellers set their minimum bid at current fair market value or slightly higher. In other words, sellers are really listing their wine for sale at current (or even higher) fair market value (which already considers the cost of auction fees). Tack on the Winebid 17% buyer fee and you're paying way more than professional auction houses who appropriately set starting bids lower....i.e., so it's an auction, not a sale plus 17%. Anyone who buys at Winebid for investment should seriously reconsider their thought process.

amazing experience so far amazing experience so far. Bought many bottles and shipping was quick and effective. Buyers must be aware that older bottles have a higher risk of being past peak which all depends on how the owner took care of the bottle. All of mine have been fine.

Actually great Not sure what it is with all the hate. For most of the bottles I buy, it's a great steal. Their customer service is so on point and helpful with everything. I had an issue with a shipment and they fixed it in under an hour. I don't buy crazy expensive bottles but generally find great deals. At least the website is upfront with the premium, most places will just put it into the price and not actually tell you. Only your first bid they have a pre-authorization and the charges were dropped after I won. It is not a big deal. Overall it is a great website, with some awesome deals, and amazing customer service.

I buy wine all over the world mostly at… I buy wine all over the world mostly at auction and find the opportunity to buy interesting and often overlooked lots on WineBid intriguing. What I do not like is that fact that I am continually ambushed at the end of an auction (like the last 30 seconds) by buyers who have shown no interest in a lot. This past weekend one guy literally was able to outbid me on 5 lots and I had no chance to respond. There is not one wine auction in the world that would not allow an under bidder to not respond but this is the environment that has been created. it is not conducive to creating a healthy marketplace. I am not sure why I even bother with the process.

Would Not Use Again It's true that WineBid may be a good source for hard-to-find wines, but it's tough to come up with an adjective that adequately describes their relative pricing and shipping speed. A 15% "buyer premium" and obnoxiously high shipping charges ($32 for a single bottle, ground delivery 3 states away) on top of the fact that the wine isn't shipped for 2-3 weeks after the auction closes? No thanks - won't make this mistake again.
